Almost one of the greatest nights in Southend's long history.  One nil up from the first leg of the English final of the Anglo Italian Cup, the game at Meadow Lane was called off the evening before due to snow.  The rearranged match necessitated a tricky journey from Leeds down the M1.  The game itself was on a knife edge - level on aggregate after 90 minutes, no goals in extra time.  The Shrimpers took the lead in the penalty shoot out but squandered it, crashing out at the final hurdle on the road to Wembley...
