Game watched: Forest Green Rovers 0-2 Newport County

Last game of 7 on an August 2019 tour. In the morning I started from Cardiff to reach Gloucester and then change to the No 63 Stagecoach bus that took me to Nailworth, where I had booked a nice B&B for the night. On Sunday morning, the owner gave me a lift to the station in Stroud so I could get back to Manchester for my return flight.

It was a terrible game for FGR's goalie. Setting up the first goal for the visitors and then being sent off trying to make amends for a dreadful back pass to him.

Very quiet crowd although a 'derby match'. I was disappointed by the silence of the 900-1 Newport crowd having watched them perform heroics for their team at WBA in the league cup six years ago.

I had a great lunch at the pub The George Inn before the game. The path up to the stadium was probably the most specatacularly unusual I've ever used to get to a league ground. If you try it, take left when you reach the fence outside the stadium. You'll be forced to circumvent the stadium to reach the entrance from the North.
