Game watched: Carlisle United 2-2 Salford City

I started my August 2019 Tour with a trip to Carlisle, arrived already on Friday with train from Bradford via Settle. I had also time for some sight-seeing in Carlisle, which I found a more welcoming city than many further south.

This was my first ever game with the visitors. They played only their fifth FL game. An eventful first half ended 2-2, and despite some great openings for both teams in the second half the scoreline remained 2-2. I didn't know then that six more scoreless halfs would follow on my tour.

Brunton Park was everything I expected it to be. I was recommended by my ticket seller to sit in the old stand. Something I didn't regret. The most striking feature of the stadium is the misplaced new stand. So, a few of Salford's supporters were in fact placed behind the goal although not being at an end.
