Game watched: Cambridge United 1-0 Macclesfield Town

The last game of my October 2018 Tour. Day-trip from the hotel in London. Arrived already after 10 in Cambridge on a cold and windy Saturday. I had a pint in a nice pub in the city centre before heading to the ground. On the way, I stopped for lunch at The Grafton Centre about halfway to the stadium. I arrived at the stadium a good hour before kick-off.

This was probably the last time I saw two league teams I had not previously watched play. Macclesfield Town, the visitors were 2.5 months into their first League Two season in a while and it had started badly. The game looked like it would finish goalless when Cambridge scored deep into the second half. A draw would probably have been a fair result. In terms of entertainment, there was not much to shout about and to add to the misery it rained heavily on the way back to the station. Since I hadn't expected rain, I was quite wet when I entered the train back to London.
