Game watched: Walsall 1-2 Chesterfield

Second game of my October 2015 tour. Not many stadiums have their own train station, so it was very easy to get to and from as I was staying in Birmingham for the night. Before the game I had a pint in the Saddlers Club and there were plenty of Chesterfield supporters there.

Dean Smith was still in charge at Walsall. He left for Brentford six weeks later. Before the game, Saddlers were league leaders with Chesterfield in 16th place. But, Chesterfield went 2-0 up against the run of play and Walsall could only manage a consolation goal from Matt Preston in the 93rd minute.

I had a senior ticket and was placed in the family area. At half time, I went under the south stand and found some excellent Marston's beer on tap. Clearly, much better than the average stadium beer. The weather was nice and sunny and I had managed to tick off league ground #55.
