Game watched: Hull City 1-0 Norwich City

First game of five during an August 2013 tour with my daughter. We had flown in to Manchester on Friday and stayed at a hotel in Stockport as Manchester was too expensive during the weekend. On Saturday morning we took the train up to Hull via Huddersfield, Leeds and York. I had never been east of York before.

We picked up our £30 tickets at the ground and proceeded to the area north of the stadium to find a place to eat. Eventually, we found an Asian restaurant with seating.

The game was my first, of currently two, Steve Bruce vs Chris Hughton clashes. There were two Swedes in the Norwich team. Martin Olsson started and Johan Elmander came on in the second half. He had been brought in on a loan deal earlier in the week and this was his first appearance in yellow and green.

Robbie Brady gave Hull the lead from the penalty spot before Yannick Sagbo was sent off for a headbutt. After that, it was all Norwich but on this day they could produce nothing and the scoreline stayed 1-0. There was still hope in Ricky van Wolfswinkel in the Norwich camp as this was only the second game of the season. At the end of the season, the result mattered as Hull stayed up and Norwich were relegated. A reversed result would have meant just the opposite.

After the game, we took the train back to Manchester and had dinner in Chinatown before we retreated to Stockport.
