Game watched: Watford 3-0 Barnsley

This was my first long weekend after beginning to work only four days a week. I flew in to London on Friday and left on Monday while watching two games, the first of which was at Vicarage Road.

I took the metro train out to Watford at noon. I had a Mexican lunch up there and one or two pints in a pub before arriving at the ground. Watford came in to the game in position 11 in the Championship and Barnsley was 23rd. Cristian Battochio and Troy Deeney scored early on to give Watford a 2-0 lead. Alexander Merkel came on in the second half to make it 3-0. Manuel Almunia was in the Watford goal and Barnsley's Emmanuel Frimpong was still seen as a possible prospect. He made 9 appearances for Barnsley before vanishing from the English game. Barnsley were relegated at the end of the season.

Vicarage Road was my 42nd league ground. I was also there three and a half years later for their game against West Ham. It turned out to be another fine win for the the Hornets.
