Game watched: Ipswich Town 0-1 Norwich City

For the third year in a row, I was making an August tour with my daughter. We had landed at Heathrow on Friday and set up base camp at a hotel in the Docklands. So, it was relatively easy to get to Stratford and catch a train to East Anglia for a day return on Saturday.

I couldn't buy tickets online for the game as the opponents were Norwich. I made a telephone call to the Ipswich ticket office and explained that I wanted two tickets for the game and that I was doing the 92. The guy who replied was extremely helpful. He had just four to go reach his 92.

There was a lot of security around the game and we had to make a long detour to get to our part of the ground. Before the game, we took photos of the statues of Alf Ramsey and Bryan Robson outside the ground. The weather was really nice and we were in the sunny stand, The Cobbold Stand. Lewis Grabban scored the only goal of the game early in the first half.

After the game, there were lots of Police at the station to make sure there was no trouble. We had an uneventful journey back to London. Portman Road was my 44th league ground.
