Game watched: Morecambe 2-1 Mansfield Town

This was the fourth game in four days during my February 2015 tour. Globe Arena was my 51st league ground. I arrived quite early as I had stayed the previous night in Bradford. I remember meeting two Norwegians during a train change at the station in Preston, who were going down to Bournemouth to watch their game against Derby County. Morecambe in winter is quite an exotic place. My hotel was on the seaside and I had probably the best fish'n'chips I ever had for lunch at Atkinson's. In the afternoon, I first visited the stadium to get my ticket for the game and then walked along the sea to the Eric Morecambe statue and back.

There were three goals in ten minutes between the 17th and 27th minute. Morecambe went 2-0 up through Paul Mullin and Kevin Ellison. Mansfield reduced reduced the arrears through a Simon Heslop free-kick. At half-time I had a pie as Duncan Adams website claimed that Morecambe had some of the best pies in the league system. I was not disappointed. In the second half The Stags pressed on for an equaliser, but produced few chances. The attendance of 1,156 was the lowest of any league game I've watched in England and in the last quarter I just wanted it to end as the winter cold by then was creeping in.
