BurnSand visited Field Mill (One Call Stadium) on 22/10/2019

Game watched: Mansfield Town 1-2 Salford City

League ground No 90 and match No 3 on my October 2019 trip. Midweek game at One Call Stadium, but I prefer Field Mill, the oldest league ground in the world with football being played there since 1861.

I had arrived after noon with the train on the Robin Hood Line from Nottingham after starting out from Bradford. After lunch, I located my nice B&B, which was a bit out from the city centre. In the afternoon, I visited the ground to buy a ticket so it would be simple to get there in the evening. The match was typical L2, more physique than finesse. The first half was goalless, but early on in the second half the Manchester visitors took the lead through Jake Jervis. Adam Rooney made it 2-0 in the 65th minute and the home side were struggling. Nicky Maynard pulled a goal back with a quarter to go, but that was all Mansfield could produce on my visit.

Attendance for the night was 4,170 close to the home side's average.
