Game watched: Burnley 1-2 Norwich City

Went to Turf Moor expecting a dilapidated stadium but was pleasantly surprised. It’s got the character of an older ground but has clearly had money put into it to keep the away end looking in good nick. Train station was an easy 20 min walk from ground. Cricket ground bar was the allocated away pub, provided a nice little area but would be a bit small for a league away following. Not sure how many fans there were today from a Norwich perspective, but there were only 8000 in total. Is the FA cup a dwindling entity from a big league fan perspective, I hope not. The away concourse was reasonably spacious, the food outlet was reasonably priced thought the meat and potato pie only had 9% meat! Programme was £1 which was very good! The view of the pitch was good. We shared a stand with the home fans which is a rarity in modern stadia, but meant the atmosphere could turn a bit edgy. As it was, first 20 mins I was thinking Burnley Away was one of best atmospheres I had witnessed in a while at a prem league ground especially with the attendance figures, but I think as we grew into the game they dropped in volume. There were a few amusing back and forths though. I also couldn’t help but laugh when they did their ‘ohh burn-a-ley’ chant which is highlighted on the inbetweeners movie! Norwich held up okay at set pieces in the first half which was a welcomed relief after our last visit to Burnley, and ended up showing some resilience to see out the victory, meaning Norwich go through to a rare fifth round in the FA Cup. Ask the Norwich fans tonight and they will tell you the magic of the FA Cup still lives on.
