Game watched: Barnsley 5-4 Barrow

Made the trip to Oakwell with my brother for what was probably the best game of football I've ever witnessed. A nine-goal thriller in the FA cup third round which saw most of the goals come in the final 10 minutes of the 90. A tremendous free kick from Ollie Banks was the on-field highlight (he thinks he's f***ing Ronaldo ;) ).

Oakwell itself is a fairly decent stadium, to be expected from a side that was top-flight not so long ago. It was disappointing that on the day we were there, two of the stands were closed.

What atmosphere there was was entirely thanks to the Barrow fans. We barely heard a peep out of the Barnsley faithful the whole match, save smatterings of cheers after the goals. A few lads in the corner towards us were trying to get something going, but most of the home support were content to sit on their hands; given that Barnsley currently sit bottom of the Championship, behind even a Derby County hit with a 21 point deduction, is it surprising?

The pies were standard Pukka, perfectly servicable.

The stewards had their fair share of drunken Barrow fans to mind and did so well. It was hard not to feel for them as the inevitable 'Yorkshire B******' chants came lashing down upon them.

I had a great day at Oakwell because it was a fantastic game of football, but had it gone another way I probably wouldn't remember the day quite so fondly.
