Game watched: Swansea 1-1 Man Utd

By the start of this century, Swansea's old Vetch Field was showing it's age and with capacity cu down to around 11,500 something needed to be done for the club to move forward. The result was this new Liberty Stadium which holds around 20,500 and opened in 2005. Swansea share this with Ospreys Rugby Union team and the move has been a success. The stadium itself is similarto modern developments seen across the country, with the only downside being the loss of history and unique character of old grounds like Vetch Field.

We drove down to Swansea and used the away fans Park and Ride, just off Junction 46 of the M4 motorway. About 90 minutes before kick off, a bus turned up, which took us on the 15 minute journey to the stadium. It cost £6 per car to use this. After the match, Park and Ride buses were waiting outside the away section for us. After a 15 minute wait, we got a very quick police escort away from the stadium and back to the Park and Ride. Just over 30 minutes after the match had finished we were back on the M4 motorway heading home.

We ate at a chippy called 'Rossis' right opposite the away end. There was also a pub next to this as well. The food inside the stadium didn't look too bad actually, but we didn't have time to try anything.
