Luzhniki2008 visited Madejski Stadium on 23/09/2012

Game watched: Reading 1-1 Manchester United

I first visited The Madejski Stadium in 2006, it was a big contrast to when I watched United play at Reading’s old Elm Park Stadium in the FA Cup in 1996. The new 24,000 Reading Stadium was named after their owner John Madejski. The design of this stadium was followed at Hull’s KC Stadium. The club has planning permission to extend the stadium’s capacity up to 38,000, but this depends on their future league status and financial situation. Reading were in the Premier League for 2 seasons 2006-07 and 2007-08 and have returned for the 2012-13 Season.

When we've been there, we've parked in the centre of Reading, had food and drinks and a look round there, then got the free Park and ride busses outside Reading Station to and from the ground. Around the ground it's very similar to most stadiums built on a modern retail unit. The stadium is very close to the M4 so easy to find. Traffic, typically, can be really heavy in the lead up to kick off and after the final whistle.
