Game watched: Colchester United 0-4 Portsmouth

Brilliant away day, had read beforehand that the new ground was too simplistic, lacked character and was perhaps boring. I don't find this the case, it was a smart looking, tidy stadium with huge potential to expand and a great example of a modern League Two stadium. The away faithful, as usual, provided a brilliant atmosphere in the North Stand of the ground and we were treated with four goals and a dominant performance, which always helps make an away game so special! The burger was nice, nothing overly special but good enough. Home fans were okay, evidently deflated following relegation but understandably so, especially after their performance. The programme was well produced and provided lots of information, which I liked. Not impressed too much with the stewarding though. First of all many were wearing Ipswich Town steward jackets and second of all many fans around myself had their beers taken away from them. The fans made no fuss, but the stewards gave no reason as to why they were doing it, there were no signs of rowdiness or foul play and no fan were told they were not allowed to take them to their seats, so an odd situation all-round. A good location in terms of the area around the ground, next to the motorway so easy to get to and get out of quickly and much room to park/expand in the future, however not much to do as it is quite a distance from the actual town of Colchester. All in all, another brilliant away day and another ground ticked off!
