Over a couple seasons i went to quite a few Reading games at the Mad Stad, it was around the time Pardew was manager and they were pushing for promotion from what was then Division 2 to Division 1. There were some thrilling games, i've picked my favourite. The thrilling games did mean a brilliant atmosphere, there always seemed to be a lot of goals a big home crowd.

I've heard people say the location is bad, by car though it's good imo. It was cheap at the time, very reasonable, may have changed now and i was under 16 at the time. Although like a lot of new stadiums i found the Madejski very steep which i thik helps with the atmosphere.
