Game watched: Everton 3-0 Swindon Town

THE MATCH

FA Cup 3rd Round Att. 20,411 Referee: Neale Barry

Swindon were reduced to 10 men in the first minute when defender Ian Culverhouse, was ajudged to of blocked a goalbound effort from Andrei Kanchelskis with his hand on the goal line, Kanchelskis stepped up to stroke home the resulting penalty. The tie was effectively over in the 18th minute, when a sloppy back pass by Mark Walters, gifted the ball to England International Nick Barmby, who coolly rounded goalkeeper Fraser Digby before slotting into an empty net. It was a classic Duncan Ferguson header early in the second half completed the scoring before Swindon's misery was complete when defender Gary Elkins recieved a second yellow card meaning Town ended the game with nine men.

THE GROUND

Good old fashioned traditional English ground, steeped in history. The three tiered main stand is an impressive structure, the view from the top tier must be amazing. The Gladwys Street stand, and adjoining Bullens Road stand are both two tiered structures, which to be honest look a bit tired, the away fans are house at the South End of the Bullens Road stand. At the Park End, the ground has a modern one tiered structure, with a cantalever roof and an electronic scoredboard.

Would like to see the ground when full as I'd imagine the atmosphere would be electric, and absolutely buzzing on derby day. Today it was approx half full, and the one sided nature of the game contributed to the relatively flat atmosphere.
