After a long journey down, got to Exeter St. David’s station where I had parking booked. Was going to stretch our legs and walk to the ground, however, I had an idea to get a train there and back instead of just back from the ground. Timing was perfect as soon as I had parked and paid for train tickets, the train was in to take us. Only a 5 or 6min ride to the ground on a not busy train, to be fair it was midday so plenty of time before the match. The station is right next to the ground and only a 5min walk to the turnstiles. Like I said we were super early so decided to get some lunch. At the end of the road was a Chinese doubling up as a chippy, the Fish & Chips were excellent. Reilly wanted to go into the ground, but, I said we would have a drink in the bar 1st. Did that in the mixed bar with Exeter fans who were very accommodating, after reports that round the corner at The Duke of York pub there had been some trouble between both sets of fans. We didn’t see any evidence of this but you can never be sure, so we were a bit apprehensive going in the bar. Went to greet the players when they turned up and managed to grab Jon Stead who signed Reilly’s “Stead 30” shirt also Steady asked Reilly for a picture with him and he went shy. Managed to get one though, Steady was brilliant!!! Went in the ground and that’s where everything fell apart. 2-1 down at half time the into the 2nd half I found out that the 1st 50 Notts fans through the gates were rewarded with a match worn Notts shirt, if only I had listened to Reilly. 😱 The game went on and didn’t get any better. Ray of sunshine when we went 4-1 down, the club brought out sausage rolls and pasties. FREE 👍🏻 I couldnt help thinking it was more out of sympathy. All in all a good experience at the ground, soon as we walked out everything went back to being good again. Train was only a 3min wait and got back on the road and made good time back home. If only I could have seen the score coming!!!!
