Sky Sports Super 6 Round 42

Aston Villa 1-1 Hull

With a cup final round the corner people thought Hulls players would have had one eye on it, they might have, but they showed at Craven Cottage they won’t roll over and with Long and Jelavic ineligible they have nothing to save themselves for. Villa have been terrible recently and are under even more pressure after a dismal showing in Wales. I think they’ll put in a better performance but will share the spoils 1-1.

Manchester United 3-2 Sunderland

United will be gunning to avenge the League Cup semi final defeat to the Black Cats and with the feel good factor back at Old Trafford i can see goals. Sunderland have found their shooting boots in recent weeks to and with their Premiership place at stake they’ve got to go all out to get something, United will shade a thriller 3-2.

Newcastle 2-0 Cardiff correct result 2 points

With 5 straight defeats Newcastle’s season is ending on a sour note. Pardew’s return to the dug out didn’t revive the Magpies fortunes at the Emirates and the fans will be expecting a reaction at home. Cardiff have been really unpredictable lately, winning at St Mary’s but taking a beating at the Stadium of Light. Despite Cardiff winning at St James in the FA Cup i think the home side will deliver a victory for their fans 2-0.

Stoke 0-1 Fulham

It be interesting to see how Fulham react to throwing away a 2 goal lead at home to Hull. The great escape is still on but they desperately need 3 points in this one. Stoke’s home record has been good in recent weeks, but they narrowly lost last time out to Spurs and will be missing Shawcross who will be sitting this one out suspended. Fulham to get a vital 1-0 away win for me.

Swansea 3-1 Southampton

Swansea guaranteed their Premiership status for another year with a convincing victory over Villa and with the pressure lifted their play could reflect this freedom. The Saints are practically playing for nothing, baring a 25 goal swing they can only finish in 8th place and more youngsters may be given a chance. I see the home side taking an entertaining encounter 3-1.

Hartlepool 2-1 Exeter

Unusual to get a League 2 game in Super 6, but think it may have thrown in for a certain Mr Stelling! Hartlepool looked like they had an outside chance of the play offs a month or 2 back but their season really tailed off and they almost got dragged into the relegation battle. Exeter secured their survival with a fantastic victory over Scunthorpe but i think the the home side will end the season with 3 points; 2-1.
