Will moving to a new stadium bring success to Brentford?

Griffin Park in the evening sunshine

Losing former manager Dean Smith to Aston Villa was always going to be a blow to Brentford but few would have expected the Bees to struggle as much as they are now doing under new boss Thomas Frank. It is now six defeats in seven games for Frank’s Brentford after the loss to Sheffield United and all the early season talk of being dark horses for promotion has completely stopped. The boos rang out around Griffin Park at the full-time whistle after the Bees were put to the sword by the Blades, and you would have to believe Frank is now… Read more »

Taking the opportunity to tick off Moss Rose, Macclesfield

Mosaic mural at Moss Rose home of Macclesfield Town FC

It’s a welcome to the92.net blog to budding journalist and Yeovil Town fan Alex Burnell. Alex shares his thoughts on a trip to Moss Rose, the home of Macclesfield Town, as the Glovers’ were in town. It’s been a while since Macclesfield Town and Yeovil Town have played each other, an eventful 13 years for both concerned. But Saturday 24th November saw the two face off in what could hardly be described as a classic. Now we had it fairly easy, being a lifelong Yeovil fan who is currently studying at a university in the East Midlands; it was one… Read more »

The Pilgrimage to Brunton Park, Carlisle

Hughie McIlmoyle loiters outside Brunton Park, home to Carlisle United

The two founders of the92.net visited one of the fabled slogs of the 92 with a day trip to Carlisle. Carlisle hosted Yeovil in a League Two clash, where football most certainly wasn’t the winner Follow author Michael on Twitter here. The Pilgrimage Brunton Park, Carlisle. Home to one of the most remote grounds in the 92. For many clubs in the football league, the away trip to Carlisle is the longest they’ll have to make. When the fixture list computer is unkind, a dreaded ‘away to Carlisle United on a Tuesday’ can be the most daunting thing to see… Read more »

You can follow Michael on Twitter here. 8th April 2017 was the date that I achieved my long-held ambition of joining the 92 Club. An Italian Adventure at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia

A visit to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia I am lucky that work had sent me out to our office in Northern Italy for a couple of days. With a choice of either Milan or Venice to fly into, I started scouring the fixtures, to see if I could fly a day earlier and get a quick ground in. One immediately popped up, just a short bus ride from Milan Bergamo Airport. Bergamo is a Ryanair hub, which plays on the fact it is about 40 minutes from the center of Milan. However, Serie A stalwarts Atalanta play in Bergamo…. Read more »

More delay drama for Chelsea and the new Stamford Bridge stadium

Wembley Stadium home to the England national team and Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal did it just over ten years ago, West Ham did it last season, whilst Tottenham are currently in the process of doing it. Stadium moves have been considered a vital part of the growth of all these London clubs, as they seek to provide improved capacity and facilities for supporters, whilst also increasing revenue streams that come with a modern new stadium. Chelsea set to be the next club to lay down new bricks and mortar in the English capital, constructing a new 60,000 capacity venue on the existing Stamford Bridge site at a projected cost of around £500… Read more »

Non League Day 2017 at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham

The old Kop at the Racecourse Ground Wrexham
