Recently final approval for Southend United’s long awaited new stadium came through meaning work could start within the next month. We caught up with Jai from the Shrimpers ‘All at Sea Fanzine’ to get his thoughts on a big chapter opening in Southend’s history. The Groundsman: Its been 15 years since the plans were drawn up – do you think they’ll ever come to fruition?! Jai: There have been plans for a new stadium for Southend for almost 30 years now and fans are deeply pessimistic that the current chairman can deliver on his promises. Sky Sports Super 6 Round 40

Sky Sports Super 6

Aston Villa 1-0 Southampton I’m torn on this one, Southampton have been very up and down over the last few months struggling for consistency and Villa’s home form in general has been awful. Both sides are missing key players; Benteke for Villa and Rodriguez possibly Boruc still for Saints. Regardless of form if memory serves me correct Saints have a terrible record at Villa Park and i’ll think the home side will sneak a 1-0 win. Cardiff 2-2 Stoke correct result 2 points Stoke have been one of the form sides in the league over the last couple of months… Read more »

This Emirates Stadium: This is not my Beautiful House

Following Highbury topping the poll of our most missed Premier League ground, Arsenal fan Henry Cooke gives his thoughts on the Gunners move from Highbury to the Emirates It grates when I meet those who have met their soul-mate. I cast envious glances at other, more contented couples for I am destined to spend my days with my stunning but dead-eyed companion. Her tastes are refined, her curves are graceful, but I was happier with the girl next door. I was happier at Highbury. The Emirates Stadium never really stood a chance. As a child of N5, I would walk… Read more »

Interview: John Walton speaks to the92.net about rejoining the 92 club

The Groundsman: Firstly John many congratulations on completing the 92! Which was your final ground and did you commemorate the occasion? John: Thanks! My final visit was to the League’s newest newcomers, Fleetwood Town, for a hard fought goalless draw with Southend United on 8 December 2012. It was a very cold day, so it was nice to be able to travel to the ground using the modern tram system from Blackpool. When I finished the 92 clubs for the first time in 2011 with a visit to Preston, I was lucky enough to follow Southend to Deepdale as… Read more »

Dan Scanlon takes in St Andrews

After Aldershot was drawn against Fleetwood on the FA Cup second round we decided to look for games in order to make a weekend of it. Luckily enough Birmingham were at home on the Friday against Middlesbrough. Our last attempt to visit St Andrews was an ill-fated affair when we ended up going to Nottingham Forest, despite having tickets for Cardiff v Burnley and Birmingham v Newcastle (both called off). I was really looking forward to this game as St Andrews was a ground I’d always fancied visiting. After dropping our stuff of at the hotel we got a taxi… Read more »
