‘Addicked’ to groundhopping: Josh Green reviews the Lamex Stadium

Seats at the Lamex Stadium the home of Stevenage FC

Blogger Josh Green continued his footballing adventure by travelling to the home of Stevenage FC for his 5th game of a packed pre-season. The Hertfordshire side faced League One Charlton Athletic as they continued their pre-season preparations with the regular season just two weeks away. Match day Experience Stevenage were the 2015 EFL Family club of the year, and certainly live up to their accolade, with tremendous reductions in ticket prices for youngsters and family bundles. The family friendly atmosphere was reflected upon arrival, with helpful stewards directing us to the nearest offsite parking. The Lamex may just be one… Read more »

International Break at the Abbey Stadium

Away end at the Abbey Stadium, Cambridge United

International break, check. The Toon not playing, check. A chance to tick off a new ground, check. Blogger and Newcastle fan Colin took full advantage to reach 3/4 of a century. Ground 75/92: Cambs Glass Stadium (Abbey Stadium) Game: Cambridge United 0-0 Stevenage Date: 25/03/2017 As it was the international break for the top two divisions, including my beloved Newcastle United, I decided this was the perfect time to tick off another ground. The usual text message to my mates asking if they fancied ‘a random’ wasn’t received as well as expected; hardly surprising as it’s only me who’s interested… Read more »

70 mark doing the 92 hit at the Lamex Stadium

East Terrace at the Lamex Stadium (Broadhall Way) Stevenage

Blogger and the92.net co-founder Pete headed South to tick a final ground off doing the 92 for the year. Ground: The Lamex Stadium (Broadhall Way) (70/92) Game: Stevenage 3-4 Doncaster Rovers Date: 03/12/2016 Starting the season on 58/92 I set myself a target of hitting 70 before the end of 2016 (apologies if I may have mentioned this once or twice before on Twitter!) With 12 new grounds to chalk off in a little under 5 months with work and family commitments I knew planning was key. Thanks to a hat trick of 2-in-1 weekends and an understanding wife, with… Read more »

Portman Road witnesses a Cup-set

The cobbold stand at portman road, ipswich

Blogger Michael Pilcher continues to set the benchmark for us fellow groundhoppers doing the 92. This time Suffolk was the destination for a 1st round EFL Cup tie. If Forest Gump was a football fan from England the saying may well have gone “life is like a tie in the early rounds of the Cup. You never know what you’re gonna get”. Ground: Portman Road (79/92) Game: Ipswich Town 0 – 1 Stevenage Date: 09/08/2016 My third ground in six days: carry on at this rate, I’d have the 92 done by early September (if only it were that easy)….
